The Georgia Mountains Master Gardeners (GMMG) comprises Master Gardeners from Lumpkin and Dawson counties and is dedicated to promoting sound horticultural practices in cooperation with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.
As an educational and service organization, our primary purposes are:
We strive to promote knowledge, interest, appreciation, and enjoyment of gardening among members and the public through meetings, newsletters, grants, and activities. We also seek to provide the community with information about good gardening practices through news articles and other media, clinics, exhibits, and presentations to garden clubs, schools and other community groups. Some of our most rewarding educational initiatives are our Youth Programs, Ask a Master Gardener and our Public Events.
Our most productive annual event is the Lumpkin County 4-H Club and Georgia Mountains Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale featuring many types of perennials, shrubs, and fruits selected to work well in our north Georgia landscapes. It’s a perfect way for members of the community to get high quality, locally grown plants at reasonable prices while the proceeds benefit both the Lumpkin County 4-H Club and the Georgia Mountains Master Gardeners’ community projects. Plant information and ordering details for our annual Plant Sale are available on our Plant Sale page.
For more information on our scheduled meetings, educational programs, and service activities, please see the Events and Projects pages. Interested visitors and volunteers are always welcome!
The Board meets at 10 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month at Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation, 365 Riley Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533. Non-Board members and other interested individuals are welcome to attend. Please confirm meeting date/time by emailing gamtnsmg@gmail.com
